Different Strokes Swim Team would not be what it is now without

board members. Since the start, the board members have worked
diligently to keep our team on a steady course, helping to guide
the team's strength and spirit and leading us to our many recent

Board Forum
This forum has been set up for board members only.
Board Position
Responsibilities & Terms
The team votes every November, to elect "new" or "returning"
board members to serve for the following swimming year. In
December the "old" and "newly elected" board members meet to
discuss what was accomplished in the previous year, and what
goals have/had been set for the year to come.
Below is a brief description of each board position
responsibility:
Chairperson
- Preside at Board meetings
- Officiate at DSST functions
- Prepare agenda for meetings (with secretary)
- Have signature authority on team checking account
- Represent DSST at IGLA and USMS meetings / functions
- Represent DSST at community/charity functions
- Provide leadership, supervision, and assistance for other
Board members as they lead their task areas
Co-Captains
- Assumes the duties of the President in the absence or
incapacity of the President
- Supervises and assists all Athletics Programs.
- With the President & Head Coach procure practice facilities
for the team
- Attend Board Meetings
Secretary
- Maintain team charter and bylaws, recording changes and
history
- With President, prepare an agenda for each Board meeting
- Attend Board meetings and record minutes
- Assist Board in matters of organization and process
- Maintain and distribute a team calendar.
-Supervise and assist the Image Director with all Image Programs
Treasurer
- Maintain team checking account
- Under the supervision of the President, shall prepare a Budget
for the next year.
- Collect money as necessary
- Send delinquent letters as necessary
- Make all deposits and issue all expense checks (without check
signing authority)
- Check post office box weekly for bills/deliveries
- Maintain an up-to-date membership list
- Supervise and assist the Membership Director with all
Membership Programs
- Attend all Board Meetings and present monthly financial
reports
Activities
- Plan and coordinate social events for the team.
- Establish one annual party/banquet for the team (awards, etc.)
- Maintain list of individual birthdays/anniversaries (get from
Membership committee)
- Plan and coordinate our Pride participation, including the
Parade and the Booth
- Establish as many task areas as necessary on an as-needed
basis to accomplish this
- Serve on Athletes-in-Motion committee to represent our
interests and get accurate information
Meet & Uniforms
- Select the "DSST logo" for the year
- Coordinate the purchase and sale of DSST swim suits, caps,
shirts, and any other equipment.
Membership
- Present monthly report at Board meetings
- Maintain team membership status in IGLA and US Masters
- Coordinate individual USMS memberships for members
- Plan recruitment activities
- Make follow-up phone calls to prospects and first-time
visitors
- Greet and answer questions for visitors to practice
- Work with Social Chairperson and Coaches to introduce new
members to the team
- Supervise and assist all Membership Committee Chairs
- Ensure that all Membership Committee activities are performed
Fundraising
- Plan fundraising projects, setting financial goal for each
- Coordinate cooperative fundraising projects with other
organizations
- Maintain list of contacts in other organizations and
businesses in the community
Web Master
- Maintain and update web site
